Stripe is the default choice for a lot of online businesses, and for good reason. It has an excellent API, a huge range of payment methods and a product for almost every financial workflow.
HansaPay is narrower by design. We focus on one job: letting businesses that sell across borders accept payments and hold the proceeds in the currency they want. This page sets out where each one is the better fit, including where Stripe is clearly ahead.
Settlement and payouts
Stripe wins on speed. Its standard payout schedule for US businesses is two business days, with Instant Payouts available when you need money sooner. HansaPay settles on a T+5 baseline, and the actual schedule depends on your account, your industry and your risk profile. If getting cash quickly is the deciding factor, choose Stripe.
Where HansaPay differs is what you can hold. You can keep balances and withdraw in more than 135 currencies, or settle in USDT. If you have costs in several currencies, you can pay them from local balances without converting twice.
Payment methods and products
Stripe supports far more payment methods, including many local bank transfer and wallet options, and a broad set of products beyond payments: subscription billing, marketplace payouts, in-person terminals, card issuing and more.
HansaPay supports the methods most online businesses need: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Cash App Pay, along with hosted Checkout and Payment Links. If you need a product we don't offer yet, Stripe is the better fit today.
Developer experience
Both offer well-documented REST APIs, webhooks and a full test mode. Stripe also ships official server libraries for most languages; HansaPay does not yet, so you integrate against the REST API directly. HansaPay requests are idempotent by default, and the API surface is intentionally small.
Which should you choose?
Choose Stripe if you want faster payouts, a wider range of payment methods, official libraries for your language, or products beyond payments.
Choose HansaPay if you sell internationally and want to hold and pay out in many currencies, or settle in USDT, from one focused platform.
